Travelling to the Stars.?

We have been told that it would take 4 years travelling at the speed of light to reach the nearest star (other than the sun). We are also told that the faster we travel, time is dilated, ie a pilot of a spaceship traveling at close to the speed of light would percieve time differently to an observer on Earth. So the questions is, from who's perspective would it take 4 year to reach the nearest star, the pilot or the earthbound observer?
